My Journey to Health and Happiness...

Hi, I’m Aathira Sethumadhavan

I’m 27, and I’ve been obese for my entire life. I have sadly let this one fact define most of my life, subconsciously. I’ve battled countless issues with myself, trying to “fit in”, to be “accepted”, to be called “beautiful” just once by someone who actually meant it. I have treated myself horribly thanks to all the things I’ve been called and told.
Over the years my demons just got worse, as did my health. A little over a year ago I realized that I had neglected my body so badly that at 25, I started taking medicine to lower my blood pressure. I also had high cholesterol and used to get my period once in 3 or 4 months thanks to PCOD.
I took a break from my full time job to focus on my health. I tried working out for almost a year but I saw NO change at all. Something clicked in me a year ago and that’s when I decided that this was it, it’s now or never and I HAD to try to change, only for myself. Not because anyone else asked me to.
I started controlling my diet, ate less than how much I burned. I worked out 6 days a week. I walked for an hour every single day. And I was consistent with this.
In the last 7 months, my life pretty much turned around. I dropped 24 kilos without giving up my favorite food. I have normal BP, cholesterol and a 30-day period cycle now, without any medication. And most importantly, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, because I’m the HEALTHIEST I’ve ever been. I fell in love with this new relationship I built with food and fitness, and I am now a certified nutritionist.
I know that most of us go through these problems, and I have just one goal. To make you healthier and happier, to motivate you to take that step and to tell you that YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and you can tell anyone who tells you otherwise to go screw themselves. I am just the same as you, and my fitness journey is an ongoing, lifelong process, and far, far from over.
So stay with me, exercise with me, cook and eat great food with me and be HAPPY with me. Because, I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll still say it again - if I CAN, then so can you. You got this. "
